ATMOCE Australia and New Zealand has extended the Australian warranty for its M-ELV 7 kWh battery to 15 years. The change applies to all MS-7K-U units already shipped to Australia.

The revised terms cover 15 years or 29.2 MWh of energy throughput, with a minimum retained state of health of 60%, whichever comes first. The extension applies across Australia without regional restrictions, including for customers who have already bought the product. The 15-year period is calculated from the original warranty start date.

The move increases the standard warranty from 12 years, placing the product among the longest standard-warranty offerings in the Australian residential battery market. ATMOCE said the warranted energy throughput is comparable to that of a typical 10-year battery cycled once a day over its life.

Market position

The battery covered by the change is the MS-7K-U, a 7 kWh residential storage unit sold in Australia. Founded in 2024 and headquartered in Germany, ATMOCE sells solar generation, energy storage and energy management products.

Zebb Wilson, Sales Director at ATMOCE ANZ, said the change was intended to support the company's local market position.

"Extending the MS-7K-U warranty to 15 years is another step in our commitment to the Australian market," Wilson said.

"It reflects the confidence we have in the technology and gives customers and industry partners greater certainty around the long-term value of the system. As we continue to invest in product development and long-term system performance, we want the support behind our products to reflect that same commitment."

ATMOCE said the battery is built on what it describes as an extra-low voltage architecture operating at 25.6 V DC. It uses an AC-coupled design intended for both new installations and retrofit projects, and is designed to work with single-phase and three-phase set-ups as well as third-party photovoltaic inverters.

Those design choices matter in the residential storage market because installers often need batteries that fit existing rooftop solar systems as well as new home energy projects. Broader compatibility can influence installer choice, particularly in retrofit work where households may already have inverters and solar equipment in place.

Installer focus

ATMOCE said the longer warranty also addresses a key issue in installer discussions with homeowners. Product life, support terms and expected performance over time have become central to residential battery sales as customers weigh system cost against long-term use.

"Warranty is increasingly part of the conversations installers are having with customers," said Grant Behrendorff, Managing Director and Co-Founder of AC Solar Warehouse.

"Moving to 15 years gives installers greater confidence in the long-term proposition they are putting in front of homeowners."

Safety testing

Alongside the warranty change, ATMOCE highlighted independent fire testing carried out on the MS-7K-U. In the test, one battery cell was forced to 233°C and ignited. ATMOCE said the results showed no explosion, no pack-wide thermal runaway and no gas released outside the battery enclosure.

The battery uses lithium iron phosphate cells and includes what ATMOCE describes as three layers of protection: intrinsic, passive and active. The company said the intrinsic element begins with the 25.6 V nominal extra-low voltage DC architecture, while a fire suppression device is designed to activate at about 170°C. Active protection monitors voltage, current, temperature and insulation.

Residential battery safety has drawn close attention in Australia as installations rise and regulators, installers and consumers examine product design, installation standards and system behaviour in fault conditions more closely. Testing outcomes and warranty terms are therefore both relevant in a market where product selection often depends on a combination of safety, compatibility and long-term support.

The updated warranty applies to new buyers and existing customers with eligible units already shipped into the Australian market. Coverage is counted from the original start date, not from the date of the announcement.
